#DisciplineIsFreedom tip #3

By Patty Bafalis November 4, 2015

Hi Everyone! Hopefully you are feeling a little more hydrated and rested today!

The tip I’m about to add today is definitely a game changer. It will set the tone for how you are going to eat that day. It will motivate you to make healthier choices. That’s how it all started for me. So  after having a restful night’s sleep, drinking a glass of water and your warm water with lemon, you will incorporate a green smoothie into your breakfast.

This is a recipe for a green smoothie for beginners. You can’t go wrong with this one. It has a vibrant green color, it’s sweet, and no after taste from the greens. We will add, modify and spice it up along the way, but for now let’s keep it simple. And give preference for organic fruits, vegetables and greens if possible.

1 banana (you can peel it and place it in a ziplock bag in the freezer the night before to make the smoothie creamier)

1 fresh ripe mango or 1 cup frozen

1 handful of baby spinach

Almond or coconut milk to cover (buy the unsweetened version) You will want to make your own at home later, but for now the store bought will do just fine.

beginnersmoothieA little ice.  It’s always better cold

Sweetener of choice to taste. I like it sweet! Option to use stevia, coconut sugar, grade B maple syrup, molasses or good quality honey.

Blend well and enjoy.

Drink this smoothie and if you’re still hungry, proceed with your normal breakfast or hop over to my Nutrition tab for a breakfast quinoa recipe. With time, a big smoothie in the morning will be all you will crave.

So, let’s recap:

Go to bed at a reasonable hour, preferably before 11, for proper organ renewal.

Wake up and :

1-Drink one glass of water

2-Drink a cup of warm water with lemon

3-Drink one small (or make it big) green smoothie.

Stay tuned for the next tips and let me know how you’re doing on comment section below!
